MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens players and coaching staff will visit the children at the Sainte-Justine Hospital and the Montreal Children’s Hospital on Thursday, December 8. A new addition to this year’s visits, team mascot Youppi! will join his “teammates” to provide gifts and smiles to sick children at both hospitals.
This year will mark the 40th annual meeting between the players and the young patients at Sainte-Justine Hospital. Once again the team will be divided into two groups to offer as many children as possible precious moments with their hockey heroes.
Sainte-Justine’s auditorium will welcome the players and their young fans for an afternoon they won’t soon forget. Scheduled activities will include: player presentations, Christmas carols, a special Q & A period hosted by the children, gifts and a surprise guest appearance by none other than Youppi!. At the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Canadiens’ players and Youppi! will visit the young patients in their room and offer each a special gift.
The Canadiens will once again join forces with the clowns from the Airheads Super Circus who will amuse the children and hand out souvenirs and circus tickets. Two, the Habs' so-called "class" is sometimes kind of pretentious. I mean this is hockey! What does classiness have to do with it? I don't like all the tacky promotional crap that goes on in most of the NHL (like calling your team the Mighty Ducks, for crying out loud?), but I'm not into over-seriousness either.

I know what you mean Plouf. I remember when I played hockey at a high level. You would go visit the Kids ward now and then because the team "made you". But once you were there you were happy you did. It was kinda a bittersweet experience. On the one hand it was so nice to see that you could brighten up a sick kid's day. On the other hand it was really sad and it put hockey in perspective.
When you walk in and see a kid with 3rd degree burns or who is dying of cancer just forget that he is sick because "you are his favortist hockey player" and he is just so happy to see you, it is a very humbling experience. And, to be honest, one that some of these selfish and overpaid crybabies should have to go through to shrink their huge egos.
