Habs Back In Third Place
Permalink Closed

Just taking a look at the stats, we are back in third in the Eastern Conference and second in the Northeast with 35 points. It's going to be hard to keep up with our conference teams after we have a six day break!

true   it might be a bit hard too keep up   but remember  sooner or later all the teams play the same amount of games     and in the long run  this week off helps recouperate out injured players and we should be a better team afterwards  especially since the break will start with a positive  a win over a very good L.A kings.   by the way,  is there any particular reason for the break?  or just a strange gap in the habs schedual?

It is just the foolishness of the schedule makers. However, to be fair, every team has a similar break somewhere in the schedule and to me it cannot come at a better time. We need the rest and the practice time. Plus it is a week where Kovalev misses no game time during his recovery perdiod..bonus

Good point, barry.  A free week for Kovalev.

And it's good that we beleagured fans (we bring it onto ourselves, I know) can sit and enjoy the fact that our last games was a big ""W" for a full week - and hopefully longer!

Overall, the Habs being 15-7, I think most of us would have taken gladly had we been offered that at the start of the year. Let's enjoy it while it lasts - and hopefully it will!

if anyone told me that the habs were gonna be 15-7, i would have told them to keep dreamin.  im definately happy with the season so far with a few exceptions (*cough*Ribs*cough*) and even with the low save % of Theo i will still gladly take him as our #1. if he ever gets his mind back on track he can be our strongest asset, which we have seen a little of. and he seems to play well in the playoffs  when we need him the most (just too bad defensive blunders made him look silly against the Cup winners, Tampa)

Things are tight right now. Ottawa has 4 games in hand on us anyway if I am not mistaken

The fact that we are even in sight of Ottawa is a miracle. I conceded the division to them before the season started and they have done nothing to change my mind. They are in a class all by themselves. Just unfortunate they are in our division.

I know for all my rantings and ravings, I actually took a deep breath, while enjoying a cup of coffee out of my Tim Hortons mug today and realized we are 15-7. I would have never predicted that when the season started.

Not only Ottaway but Buffalo - there a force aswell. I think the Northeast is the toughest division.

looking at points we are in third but overall in the conference we are in fourth because the three division leaders are 1,2,3 no matter how many point they have.

i think we can keep it around 4th for most of the year and this week off is a blessing in disguise with all our injuries.

ottawa is in a class of their own and we do not really have a shot of catching them. it is even more unfortunate for us that they are in our division because that means we can finish no higher then 4th no matter how many points we end up with.
