Actually you and I do agree that onl Kovalev is untouchable at this point. And Marleau would fit the bill. You know what? Boston made a statement by trading big Joe. They said "We are committed to the coach here. And either you guys step up and do your job or you will be playing under the palm trees in LA LA land too". Maybe it is time Gainey made a statement. If you are committed to your coach and believe in him, then any players who ar enot putting out need to be given a message.

I would LOVE to see Marleau on the Habs! But I just can't see Gainey doing it. Unless he makes a blockbuster trade, of course, but I don't see that happening... still, I hope I'm wrong.
This is the first trade talk I agree with. Marleau would be fantastic - he's a perfect complement to Koivu. Kind of the opposite, but just as good.
I would endorse getting rid of some serious players for Marleau. One of our young talented forwards (my pick would be Plekanec, because he would be expendable if we got Marleau), plus Ribeiro, Zednik, whoever. Marleau would be great.

Relax John at this point I would put Koivu in the untouchable place as well. I will say that the Bruins showed that no one is "untouchable" with the Thornton trade. Sorry for missing him. But you do not need to get personal. I am sick and tired of everyone crapping on a coach who has put a very low talent team in 3rd place in their division. If we ar egoing to finger point at the coach for a losing streak why does the Captain get granted immunity?

I never said the coach is the main problem here. Mostly uninspired play and lack of heart from key members on the team. As for why the captain should be granted immunity, he shouldn't if he's not doing his job. Currently he's leading the team in scoring, has done so the last two times the team was in the playoffs and works his butt off every shift. If he doesn't deserve immunity for that, I'm not sure who does.
I thought the untouchabes were Eliot Ness ok serious now, who is Marleau , His stats, current team ???? and if he is available what would it take to land him ???
actually thronton plays with his cousin scott and with cheecho
but marleau still isn't going anywhere beacuse that is one of the reasons they made the trade....they wanted to have a better one two punch so they went out and got another marquee center to compliment marleau
i seen their gm talking about it duuring the leaf game on saturday, i know they aren't the most credible people but it does make sense when you think about it.....why would they acquire joe thornton and not make marleau part of the deal if they wanted to get rid of him
Well there's two players I hope we don't pick up: Nolan and Nabokov.
Not so sure about Bertuzzi either. Great player, definitely, and if we could get him for cheap why not? But I think we need a centreman and a defenseman more than anything. Our wingers aren't scoring like they should, and maybe they don't quite have the talent to be killer snipers (except Kovalev) but add them all up and it's probably the strongest part of our team. Which means, I guess, that we just aren't that great of a team yet...getting there though.
