get specific about trading

I hear so many trade this guy or trade that guy posts without any ideas on who to trade for

First off Theo? Who's desperate for a Goalie? Pittsburgh? Chicago? They've got nothing we want

Or how about a Theo-Ribs for Manny Fernabdez, Randy Robitaille and Filip Kuba trade to Minnesota? Doesn't sound so great either

We'd have to get at least a stop gap goalie to see us through to Danis' maturity

Scratching my head on this one (i'd make a pathetic GM) , I think until a blockbuster is obvious, we should avoid it

(see my other post on this)

There aren't actually that many options for Gainey at the moment, if you look at the situation realistically. Chucking Theo or Ribeiro off a tall building in a fit of anger may be justifiable on gohabs.com, but as far as reality goes, not sure what can be done short of giving up picks. Which is a bad idea I think. I say sit tight until some guys get healthy and let the young guys continue to grow up. This is not the year.

Worst thing to do is be forced to make a trade out of desperation (which I honestly think is what Boston just did). We are not in desperate straits yet.

Who knows though? Gainey's surprised us before.

Yes, tough one.  When I have some time I'll check out every team and see how their goaltending/cap amount seems and what they *might* have in return to help us.

But, a quick look show's there's not too many potential trading partners out there that might have some interest in a 5mil/under performaning goaltender.

Teams in need of goalies, there is a truck load. Colorado, Atlanta, Vancouver, Pittsburg, Anaheim, Carolina, San Jose (if Nabakov still remains incosistent, if he shapes up again, then SJ is ok), ST.LOUIS!, Tampa Bay, and Washington.

Those teams have really bad goalie issues. I made a thread about certain trades, but I was called stupid for thinking of them nevertheless, you should have a gander and let me know what you think.

Well, Pittsburg has a player I'd want!  But Theo would have to be supplmented by about another ten players to make that trade even!  (Still, I'd do it.)

Pittsburgh is out of the equation, as Fleury has been called up and Thibault has been waved.  If I were to trade Theo I would look for a similar ppackage to what Boston got for Thornton.  I would want a good D, a good froward and an up and comer, while also saving money.  I would look at Edmonton who does not have a true number one and look for a package like Staios, Dvorak, and Pouliot, which would save us 2 mil.  We would then have to give the reins to Danis and Huet though.  I would also insist that they take a couple of our garbage guys like Vandermeer and/or Ivanans and/or Dagenais, as well.  I would have Dvorak, who is a fast goal-scorer and fantastic defensively, play on a line with Pleks and Bulis on the Czech Checking line.

I think if we were to trade Bonk and/or Ribiero we would have to sweeten the pot with a good or great prospect if we wanted to get anything good in return, or in Bonk's case, just to accept his salary.  I would also consider trading Zednik, as I would prefer to give the time to Perezhogin and Higgins and Ryder, as well as Kovalev when he gets back.  We have too many top six wingers... time to move one or two and strengthen other areas.

Mike Oconnell looks like a saint today. What a game Boston played. Maybe its just the excitement of all the moves, but they shut down Ottawa and their rookie goalie got the big shutout

Youpi for one of the Carolina Hurricanes cheerleaders and future considerations

He's the guy in the fuzzy orange costume (at least I think he's male!)- i.e., the team mascot.  He was the Expos' mascot for years, but became a free agent when the team left town.

I would have given a million bucks to be at the house of the guy who plays Youppi! (don't forget his exclamation point) when that phone call came

Scene: Beer cans and full ashtrays are littered around the house, a dvd of the Expos greatest moments (all 7 minutes) is looping on a run-down TV. The phone rings, a shadowy figure emerges from underneath the beer can pile and runs to the phone.

Youppi!: Hello? Yes.... what? If this is a prank, it's not funny. Since when did the habs have a mascot? I'm hanging up now *click*

Ring..... ring....

It must have taken hours to convince the guy they were for real. Definitely the luckiest man in show business.

I don't think the "!" is part of his name, Brook, I think it's his "number", so to speak.  Yes, I'm sure it's a pretty good gig.  I hear the runner up was the San Diego Chicken.
