Why not do what Boston has done and bring in some depth to fill some holes! Our value is Theo! Use him!
Remember myself and others saying that Saks will go down because he is burnt out! Well, its happened already! A tired stressed groin muscle and not from his personal life I gather.
Gainey, are you there! Trade Theo away! He won't get any taller to fill the top of the net while on his knees!
I couldn't agree more with you. Imagine the team we would have if we got rid of Theo and filled some gaps, like you said. We would be a force when Kovy and Markov get back. Don't forget about Komi. I thought we played really well tonite, the goaltending let us down, and let them win. If we can play like we did tonite without our #1 offensive player and our #1 defensive player, then imagine how we would play with some solid goaltending (Danis... for now) in the net and these two guys back!

Ok...so let's get this all straight.
We want to trade Theo, right? To fill in some holes? Which holes, I wonder?
Bearing in mind that Dagenais and Streit are basically healthy scratches when we have a full lineup, the holes must be........Bonk? Well...I think we'd all agree we're stuck with him. Koivu, Zednik, Kovalev, Begin, Bulis, Higgins, Plekanec, Ryder? Probably not, right? Perezhogin? He's just starting. Wait, Sundstrom? What for, he does his job fine on the third line.
That leaves Ribeiro.....yep. That'd be nice. And maybe it'll happen.
As for the defense. I don't know who would go, but I think improvement there would be good.
But we'd need a goalie too.
And someone would have to eat the salary of Theo.
So what other tradeable commodities do we really have? Or are we just saying do some random "shake up the team" type trading?
In the end, I'm not sure what I'd do if I was Gainey. Actually I do know. I'd probably not move anybody yet, and see how the team responds when Kovalev is back. That 7 game cushion is helping us out in times like these.
I think I'm saying a "shake up the team" kind of trade. I must admit, I was mad after the loss, and took it out on Theo. I realize, in the real world, we cannot trade Theo. But I would still like to see Danis play every 4th game like you said.
I kind of liked the way Hackett and Theo used to share the job when Theo was faltering a few years ago. So in reality, couldn't that be a possibility? Obviously not with Huet, but with Danis instead. Wishful thinking, but it sure would solve our goaltending problems, keeping both of them on their toes at all times.
I wouldn't mind seeing us get something good for theo, but we'd have to get a goalie in return that could handle the load. Because Danis is a rookie, huet is coming back from a knee injury. We dont have much expeirence in nets, so we need to be weary of how we trade him off. Look at Pittsburg, they don't have a solid goalie and look at all the weak shots that go in.
