i work with a guy whos a huge vancouver fan so during our break naturally we start talking hockey. mid-way through the conversation, he tells me that he likes the habs but HATES the fans. why? simple, because habs fans turn on the team quicker than fans of most other teams. fans of other teams wait out the slumps and injury problems and have faith that the team will bounce back. but what do habs fans do? demand the team to fire the coaches, the GM, the trainers, the venders and trade every player on the habs and the ahl farm team, not to mention boo anything wearing the colors blue white and red. of course he was over exagerating when he said that but he has a very valid point. even when we were winning we had a lot of negative things to say, and now that we are on a slump (which 80% of nhl teams have gone through or will go through at one point or another this season) i read this forum and it almost seems like we want to trade the entire team coaches ,GM, players and all. i like to think im a positive habs fan but even i have been down the negativity road, wanting brisbois out just like everyone here and now that hes gone and playing well, we all want him back but if he ever came back he would go back to the old D we wanted out. we are blaming the team for the poor play but maybe we as fans should take part of the blame for putting extreme preasure on them by demanding the impossible. i know most or all will disagree with this but at least keep it in mind. especially if we don't make any moves and we start winning again will you all still want BG, CJ, and half the team gone or will we go back to being fans again?
I do see your point, but at the same time I see nothing wrong with voicing one's displeasure with what is happening on the ice, or in the front office for that matter. It doesn't make someone "less of a fan" if they don't follow the party line and say everything's alright when obviously everything isn't alright.
Interesting stats . . .
Habs GF 72, GA 77 . . .
Habs SF 802, SA 696 . . .
Only three (3) teams have more SF than the Habs, yet eighteen (18) teams have more GF. Obviously there's a problem with our scoring touch and our goaltending has been "average" at best . . . not too sure what Gainey can do at this point, but we're definitely in trouble if those trends continue.
Well I guess if we have a differentt opinion we are not good loyal fans I dont get it In 2 months when everyone is back we will be 17 wins 20 losses. I just hope we can make a playoff run but I highly doubt it
