Add Ron Hainsey to the list of players not available. Taken off Waivers by Columbus. Nice move Bob.
By the way to add insult to injury, the Habs are on the hook for half his 550,000 salary and yes it does go towards the cap. So Columbus gets him for 275 this year..did Gainey actually think he would clear waivers? Duhhhh

Let's not slash our wrists on this one, guys. Hainsey had a million chances to make it in Montreal and has not stepped up at all. At best, he'll be a #5 to #7 defenseman in the league. We have much bigger things to fret over.

I am not sure if is the person we lost as opposed to the timing of it. I would guess if Markov, Souray and Komi were all healthy no one would say anything. However listening to team990 today, it was mentioned matbe its not a groin injury but a wrist injury to Souray. His shot has been weak and inaccurate makes you wonder ha
boy, talk about a nail in the coffin. gainey should be sharpening his pencil we need someone
If BG is going to sharpen his pencil he may want to impale himself in the right temple with it. Did he really let Hainsey skate to Columbus? For nuthin'? And what about Hainsey? Poor cat has to leave a town like Montreal, loaded with wine and women, and go to, gulp, Columbus?
This is going to bite us in the backside come playoffs...
Please explain, im not exactly sure what purpose Hainsey has with our team during the playoffs, or what he has EVER done for our team. This point makes no sense to me at all.

The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed defenceman Ron Hainsey from the Montreal Canadiens on re-entry waivers, plucking away their first-round pick from the 2000 Entry Draft.
The Canadiens recalled Hainsey from the minors, but he had to clear re-entry waivers by noon et Tuesday in order to play for Montreal.
Because he's on a contract that pays him $550,000, and he's a young player with potential, it was very possible Hainsey could be picked up by another team. The Habs are on the hook for half of his salary and it will count against Montreal's cap.
JoHab - I think what most doubters are looking at is not what he has done, but what he could have done given the time and experience to grow into the job. Plus, we got nothing in return, and we could use him tonight.
Hainsey is lazy, he'll play a few games here and there, but won't want to make the effort to do anything, he thinks too highly of himself, and that was his own dimese (sp?)
