2-4 without Kovy
Permalink Closed

Well, I said we needed to play at .500 without Kovy but it doesn't seem like we will be able to. So far we are 2-4 without him with some huge games coming up. I guess the question remains, can we stay above .500 without him?

Mr. Julien, please play Pleks with Ryder and Higgins in the next game. How bad can it be not to have Ribs on the second line? We've lost 6 of our last 8 games, shuffle things up like you did in the third tonight. The boys played a good game tonight and got unlucky. There's no way we will keep up with the Sens unless the rookies chip in, so let 'em have some fun over the next three games. Either way we aren't likely to come out on top (which isn't so bad considering we are the underdogs).

Yourself and others like Muller have been calling for Pleks on the second line with Ryder and Higgins!

I have to agree! Way more chemistry! Great play between Ryder and Plecs on that two on one! I think Belfour was expecting to see Ryder shoot which is what he likes to do!

I have to add though that Ribs overall looked better and was also taking the body! He played well with Bulis! Again better chemistry!

I don't even think its Kovalev's offese that were missing just his presence. When Kovy is there Sak and Zed get much more room, and when hes not Bulis plays there most of the time and Bulis can't seem to score. With Bulis no longer on the third line Begin is moved up, the result is less offese from Begin, Begin was playing on the fourth line with two good two way wingers, Pleks, and Higgins or one of them and a great offesive player in Perezhoigin. The result is Begin creating and getting chances. Begin will never score on the third line with Bonk and Sundstrom.

I have said this before; Bulis should no be playing on the first line - its absurd.

I would play Zed, Koivu, and Perez on the first. Ryder, Higgins, Plek on the second. Bulis, Begin, Riberio on the third.

What are we going to do if Markov is suspended???????????????

A player sometimes gets noticed for what they add when they're not in the line up. So far Kovy looks like the most important player on our team! We're losing without him!

Have to agree with you there. Far as I'm concerned there are three unreplaceables on the team: Kovalev, Markov, Koivu. Any of those guys is out we are a seriously lesser team, no doubt about it. Might add Theodore to that list the way he's been playing lately.

I would defintely add Theo to that list. I'm sure it takes some pressure off Markov and Rivet knowing Theo is in net. Danis gives away so many rebounds the d-man work twice as hard.

Great players have a way of elevating the play around them just by putting on a uniform. Kovy does that.

I wish some mad scientist could create one player out of a combination of Bulis and Dagenais - Bulis' skating ability and Dagenais' shot.  That would be one great player!

But what to do with the other side of that experiment, Dags skating and Bulis's shot? i know will trade him to the leafs.

No need to trade him. Just send him down to the minors and wait until he's over 35. Then let the Leafs pick him up as a free agent.
