Guy Carbonneau was your all time favorite? Me too. I always liked and respected his style of play. Did all the small things so damn well. And tough as nails. I actually wrote a "letter to the editor" of Sports Illustrated (they printed it) saying why I thought Carbonneau deserved HOF consideration.
They don't seem to make 'em like Guy anymore. I guess the closest I've seen in some while is your other guy, Kirk Muller. Another tough SOB if there ever was one.

Guy is my third all-time favourite, after Jean Beliveau and Guy Lafleur (tough competition, eh?). Mike MacPhee was the closest thing to him, in my view - extremely hard-working, great defensively, and able to score 20 goals.

Yes Johnney USA, Your Post brought tears to my eyes. I recall being maybe 12 years old( something like that) during Carbonneau's rookie season. I got an autograph from him on a huge color picture of him in the sports section of the Montreal newspaper " The Gazette".
All my hockey playing days were forever dedicated to Carbonneua's style of hockey. Did you know he was a real scoring phenom in Junior? But recognized that in order to "win" championships you had to play defense? So he spent his time in the A.H.L perfecting his style of hockey. Imagine that....Thinking about winning championships rather than personal glory...Where have all the good people gone?( Koivu is this type of individual, therefore my admiration). If we had more Muller's, Koivu's, Carbonneau,s and less Ribero types, all would be better in Hab land.
