...and that, in my opinion, is the sole responsibility of the coach!

And-o has been a big fan of CJ (who my wife says is a dead ringer for Bill from "King of the Hill") up until this point.  However, I simply can't recall 3 games this season where the Habs did not have a serious letdown at some point!  In fact, And-o maintains that this team has yet to piece together 3 quality periods from start-to-finish!

The depth of this roster (thanks to Gainey, Timmins and Savvy) has pulled the Habs along so far...but Julien needs to fix these blatant and obvious mental lapses and inconsistencies behind closed doors!

...and And-o does not want to read some scathing review posted here from Barry33 defending CJ...especially since And-o has been such a MEGA supporter of the coach up until now.  And-o views coaching in the same light as an "at bat".....and right now Claude Julien has STTTTEEEERRRIKKKKKKE ONE against him!!!

And-O as I said in another post, I too question some of CJ's moves. I also noted that it will only be a mattrer of time (perhaps a 8 game losing skid) before the media and fans get all over him and he gets canned. But what I cannot agree on is this. It is NOT up to the coach to motivate a team. These guys are millionares getting paid to do a job. Tell me this. I am not sure what you do for a living but lets just say that the next few weeks you slack off. You really do not like your manager. He no longer "motivates And-O". And-O feels underappreciated. And-O does not agree with some of the personell decisions his boss makes. So And-O simply stops working. Oh sure, And-O goes to the office every day..puts his 8 hours in. But And-o really does not feel he should "put out" any extra effort for the boss.

Eventually, And-O's supreme boss (not his direct superior but maybe the company president) notices that And-O has not been himself. And-O no longer stays late and does extra work. And-O tells the supreme boss that And-O is not longer motivated by his manager. And-O says that he will no longer produce unless the manager gets canned. barry33 wonders who will be working the next day..And-O or the manager?

I will not defend some of CJ's moves. I truly disagree with some of his moves (although I can tell you many are dictated by the french media and Gainey) I have confidence in him as a coach and a hockey man and he will have a long NHL career. What I REFUSE to do though is make any coach in the NHL a scapegoat for lack of effort. To quote Jeremy Roenick "WAKE THE F**K UP BOYS!!" You are paid to do a job. You should not need a babysitter to tell you "did a good job using the potty instead of your pants" to motivate you.  Thsi is not atom hockey. This is the NHL. Unfortunately when things go bad the NHL stands for "Not Here Long" for coaches.

Barry33. You are ohhh soooo right. That is the reason Gainey is so great. He is trying to put a TEAM together. Fancy boys need not apply. Gainey looks for players who give everything night in and night out. The only suspect move so far related to that is Bonk( a good fit in terms of a big shut down guy, but not sure about game in/out effort).

This is year 2 of Gainey's 3-4 year plan. This is not a cup team now. Gainey will weed out the fancy boy...boys when the time is right.

Regardless of who gets blamed for the lack-lustre efforts (and there sure have been several these past few weeks versus the likes of Toronto, Florida & Pittsburgh), it is time for CJ to shake things up (as Barry33 says) in a BIG way!

And-o has been waiting for the shoe to drop on Ribeiro and Dagenais...clearly a re-shuffling of the entire second line is definitely called for!  Additionally, it is painfully obvious that Sheldon Souray is just not meeting expectations (whether it be a heavy heart or lead feet).  And-o is also waiting for the real Jose Theodore to show-up on a nightly basis.

And-o worries that amongst the Habs best players this season so far are the likes of Steve Begin and Francis Bouillon (very serviceable and handy players...but not something to base success on though).

...what kind of mood will Hab fans be in next Sunday morning if the Habs turn in some more performances like last evening versus the likes of Washington, Atlanta, Buffalo & Toronto (4 inferior oppponents)???

Amen Brother Ando!  I think it is time to let the rookies cement their place on the roster by giving them the ice-time instead of those who have not been up to task.  The best way to get a player's attention is to reduce their ice-time/bench them and get them to work their way back up.

Ribeiro to the fourth line. Wake-up call needed. Try Plekanec as second-line centre for one game. He seems to mesh well with Higgins. And although he's not great defensively, he tends to be able to get back and fix  a lot of his mistakes.

I agree And=O. major changes needed. But geesh I don't know who we are gonna use. I am seeing our lack of depth showing here. I would sit Souray. But who we gonna put in? I see CJ making some changes in the game and trying to shake things up. Bonk on the PP. Plekanec is not a 2nd line Center though as much as Ribs is not.
