Theo had a sore groin and brain in this one! Just don't no what we're going to get from Theo night to night!

Trying to remember Theo's contract. Did it have a no trade clause?

No no-trade clause.

Just saw the highlights, and again, most goals seems to be to the top shelf while he's going down.  I also read comments about bad rebound control.  Is he regressing, just after we thought he was back to form?  Does the groin injury have any bearing on his performance?

One more time for dexterity's sake...I N CON S I S TEN T . I know everyone here keeps asking why CJ and BG keep playing Theo. The reason is the same that the Leafs keep playing Belfour. If we are to have any success this year we need to have a legitimate number one goalie. You will notice the Leafs will go back to Eddie the Beagle tonite even though Telquist stole a game for them in Boston Thursday.  We have 5.5 million of cap room tied up in Theo right now. He needs to be our number one guy or be traded. No options here. And the only way he will regain form, unfortunately, is by playing games. Practice does not cut it.

Theo has the tools. He is a good goalie technically. And yes it can b e maddening that one night he looks like a Vezina winner and the next night looks like he belongs in the Montreal Monday night beer league.  By the way, I will say one thing. Theo was not outduelled by Brodeur last night. Brodeur was brutal in the 2nd period. There is one key difference. Brodeur made the saves when his team needed them last night (ie period 3).  Look a goalie will let in shaky goals (or at least goals that look shaky to us). But the key is having him come back and make the big saves when the game is on the line or his team needs a lift. Theo did not give us that last night.

Soorry for the long quote. I wanted to quote your part Barry33 about how Broduer made the saves when needed. That is actually WHY he did outplay Theo. That by definition is what a clutch goalie is supposed to do, so he did in fact outplay Theo. How many times is that this season???

The thing is that everyone seems to assume that his best years are ahead of him. He might have already had his banner year.

Again, I'll bring up Lalime or Jim Carey or... fill in the names of the other 50,000 goalies with great skills, but no long term consistency

The question is... When do you cut and run? And when do you start piling pressure on someone like Danis, who looks like one day he could be a solid #1?

You might want to ask Dan Blackburn that one.

Good post! Historically he has always had hot and cold streaks of inconsistancy! Maybe his best games are behind him and he can't sustain good solid play beyond a few games.
