Montreal has suprised a lot of people this year. Mainly becuase of the Rookies, Markov and Koivu. But I see problems ahead unless these things are addressed:

1.Theo. Can't live with him; can't live without him. He has been outplayed on most nights but Montreal has been that good so has been winning despite him. He does have that unique ability to win games so we are stuck with him. When will he earn that 5.5mil?

2.Ribero. We cannot contine to rely on Koivu night after night. I do agree with And-o in that he is a small guy and his frame cannot continue to be the focal point every night. Unfortunately as long as Ribero is the number 2 guy....this team is in trouble. He is so useless that he can't even be utilized on the third or fourth line. But we can't trade him. So what you gonna do?

3. Streit.  Time for the expiriment to end. I say bring up Hainsey for a last chance( He leads Hamilton in points)

4 Boullion. He has been awsome. But again I don't think his small frame can continue to hold up as our number 3 d-man, and we saw it for the first time last night. We need another D-man!

5. Bulis. The guy can't score but I think is a major piece of the Montreal puzzle.

So this is what I see happening. Towards the end of the season Gainey will use the cap room to get a viable second line center from a struggling team( the french media will be mad but Ribero will be part of that trade). And then he will trade a second round draft pick for a solid d-man. Then lets hope Theo shows us in the playoffs why he is the highest paid hab!

Nice take on the situation. Sounds reasonable to me. Ribs should have been one of the dominant players in the last two games where checking was down. That's his type of game and once again he was a no show. Poor Ryder is suffering from this.

I agree with bringing up Hainsey immediately. Streit is not working out. As for Ribeiro, well I always said the kid doesn't have the strength to center our second line, which is why I thought Bonk was acquired. BG needs to bring in one more piece of the puzzle, and I think it's another strong forward. I'm actually pretty happy with defense, but Hainsey would be a nice addition.

There was a reason that Hainsey was sent down this year. Lack of work ethic to aloow him to play at the NHL level. But at this point I am adopting a "we have nothing to lose" attitude because I cannot stand watching Streit play one more shift..it is the comparabale to having a vasectomy done with no local anesetic...just painful and excrutiating.

I wonder if Bonk could be the solution, as a number two center?

Begin is capable of playing centre, and could centre a Bulis-Begin-Sundstrom line, leaving a fourth line of Plekanec-Perezhogin-Dagenais(or...Ivanans?)  I feel like putting Begin or Sundstrom on the fourth line when Bulis comes back is wrong anyway.

If that experiment of Bonk as #2 doesn't work, then I'm sure Plekanec could play as a number 2. He'll get outmuscled and make a few mistakes, but he can't be worse than Ribeiro right now.

Ribeiro and a second-rounder for a solid (puck-handling) defenseman.

Probably Ribeiro isn't worth that much anymore though.
