Why???
Permalink Closed

I did not want to bury this on the game thread   Why is it every time we have a ceremony like we did tonight, and all the ambassodors are there to share in the festivities,  we lose. I do not care who we are playing  but we lose. Another thing  get an organ to play O Canada when the person sings. Remember years ago Roger Doucette with that voice and the organ playing it was wonderful. I guess I am just venting, but we played great  alot of hit posts  we did get to Belfour but Theo ( Mr 5 Mill) made a stupid play and that is why we lost. Theo caused the 4th goal. Not because of a lousy save but he should have stayed in the damn net. He fanned on the clear.

Very frustrating game to lose . . . Theo didn't play well (5 goals/24 shots) and we hit A LOT of goal posts.  I've noticed the Leafs really push the rules pertaining to stick infractions in previous games, my guess is it's the only way they can compete.  Hopefully the league will continue to call them.

I'm afraid to say it, but maybe we've replaced Ottawa as the rival Toronto should lose to but win anyways (I'm talking primarily TO's dominance over Ottawa come playoff time) . . . I hope not . . . the next two games between Mtl & TO should be interesting.  I'd say, start Danis, Theo seems to have some mental block when it comes to playing the Leafs.

Never in my life have i seen a team get as lucky as the leafs did last night.  How many posts did Mtl hit again??  How about Begin on the breakaway??  How do you miss that??  It should've been 2 or 3 nothing after the first period if not for belfour.  Also that fourth goal was the luckiest bounce of all time.  Can't blame theo on that one, it was just a horseshoe up Allison's butt that made that goal go in.

Ponikarovsky's goal was a bad break for Mtl to as the puck seemed to hop over Markov's stick at the blue line.

The leafs had all the breaks last night.

The ghosts of the Forum came back last night, and they were pissed. Has anyone ever seen a puck come from behind and slide under the cross-bar to tie the game? That was ridiculous! Then too many men on the ice in overtime! Oh my Lord! But the action was great and Belfour did stand on his head in the first to keep the Laffs in the game. Consolation: 1 point.

Very simple as to why........the reason is the crappy Theo. Get rid of that short useless wimp and you might have a chance to win, forget about winning anything in the playoffs with Theo, I'm will to bet big money that Habs get nowhere in playoffs with a 5 foot 2 wimp that drops to knees after the guy crosses the blue line. The Habs have a good record so far, but it sure as hell aint because of 'giving the fingers to fans' Theo.

Lets see Thibault hasnt won since 2003, yet he still beat Theo, I think that says it all.

The guys up front give him 4 goals , yet that useless twit still finds a way to lose it. Yvan and Dickie must be proud.

Lets not forget the missed goal by Begin.  I admit he is a very important player to this team however, he could have skated the puck into the net but instead he was a little lackadaisical and we all know the result.  That would have made the score 5-3 and, even with TOs fluke, OT would not have been necessary.  THEO was bad and Begin could have bailed him out.  Not good enough!!!::::::::::

I actually thought we had just scored our second goal and it was 2-2. I remember saying Begin almost made it 3-2 but the leafs came right down and scored a short while after he hit the post. Am I wrong   I think his goal would have made it 3-2 us.

Your recollection is correct, davidb.  The score was 2-2 at the time.  TO scored shortly after Begin's miss, to make it 3-2 them.  Montreal scored two in the third to make ir 4-3 us, but it didn't stick.

Right you are, it would have made the score 3-2 but the end result would have been the same-no need to go into OT.  Tks for the correction.

I know if we made it 3-2  we would have held onto the monentum too. I think we could have potted another one. But in this league no lead is safe. We should have had a 4-zip lead in first.
