Why have a goalie who is not ready to play back up our starter.  Until Huet is ready to play a game then send Danis down.  I thought Danis would have got the start against the Pens a rest Theo against the Maple Laffs.

How well is a goalie going to play for us knowing he is going to go back to play in the swiss league.

And another thing - I hope we do not play Streit anymore.  Call up Hainsey and give him the ice time he can't be any worse than Streit.  I see Streit trying too hard at making plays and it doesn't look good.

Danis is going to Hamilton for some playing time!  He will be back for the Toronto game.

This gives Danis an opportunity to play...and saves $$$ versus the cap - every $ counts!

I was under the impression that Dannis was going to Hamilton for good, and Huet is returning? But Theo is still starting tonight, as far as I know.

With the new CBA teams aren't going to keep a guy on their roster just to have him available on a moments notice.  It is actually fiscally responsible for them to send a guy down for two or three days and not have to pay the NHL rate for those few days.  I can point to the Buds and their treatment of Colaiacovo.  Ferguson came right out and said that it was strictly a cap move, and he will probably be back in the lineup for Friday or Saturday.  (P.S. - Their AHL team just happens to be in Toronto, so it is easier for them to be like that)

That being said, the quotes from Huet lead me to believe he is the one that is going to be with the Habs.  And, hey, it can't hurt for Danis to see some pucks in a game situation for a while.

Edit: Quote from canadiens.com

Looking into the Canadiens’ Cristobal: Well ahead of schedule, goalie Cristobal Huet took part in his first team practice on Wednesday before the Canadiens left for Pittsburgh. In a strange turn of events Huet will be Jose Theodore’s backup tonight, while Yann Danis will play a pair of games in Hamilton on Thursday and Friday before returning in time for Saturday’s showdown with the Leafs. Huet would then be send down for a conditioning stint before doing what he was signed to do prior to suffering a serious knee injury while playing in Germany last season — back up Jose Theodore.

“It felt great to just be out there with all the guys for the first time,” said Huet the former Kings netminder, who was acquired as part of the Radek deal that sent Mathieu Garon to Los Angeles. “Sure I’ve already met everyone, but being on the ice is just different. Today I really felt like I was a Montreal Canadien for the first time.”

Claude Julien made it clear that he had no intention of Huet seeing any action in Pittsburgh.

“Sure we’re taking a bit of risk,” admitted Julien. “But it’s one were comfortable with and that we think is going to help us in the long run. Playing those two games in two nights will only help Yann.”
