It;'s fun watching all these close games (as long as we keep winning them!) but I'd love to see the Habs blow somebody out and take that momentum into games against their tougher opponents. What do you think are the areas where they need to improve?
In my opinion, the top three would be:
1. Stupid Penalties -- usually occurring when a player stops skating and uses his stick instead. Our penalty killing isn't strong enough to stand up to 10 opposition power plays.
2. Giveaways -- we seem to be getting better as the season progresses at making bliind passes to nobody, or worse - putting pucks neatly on the sticks of our opponents.
3. Rebound control -- Theo stops a lot of pucks, but rebound control has never been his strongpoint. Our D needs to be on top of those pucks and either clear them before they get stuffed in or tie up opposition forwards better.
1. Powerplay - The Habs need to get into their powerplay. Now, we did have a good game against Tampa, scoring two of our three goals on the PP. But we'll see how it works out against the Pengiuns. Its great to see defensemen scoring. We just need Souray to shoot and rattle the opponents goaltending.
2. Penalties - Komisarek in particular, he had 3 penalties last game against Tampa - but, we must give him credit for pushing the limits of the NEW NHL rules.
3. Kovalev - I really want to see him play like he's capable of. He didn't handle the puck very well against Tampa... I do realize everyone has a bad game, but I like to see him play to his full potential.

Good observations, Desi. I find too-many-men penalties particularly infuriating. I'd also like to see more offense from the defensemen, but that's starting to come of late. The one who needs to find his form is of course Sheldon Souray.
I see from your profile that you're Floyd "Busher" Curry's grand-nephew. Another direct connection to the Habs! (Barry33 is a friend of Claude Julien's.) Did you know Busher? Do you have any great stories to regale us with?

Sorry to say I don't have any great stories other than the fact that I've been told that The Busher did score a few Stanley Cup playoff goals along the way. Also, my father tells me that one night some members of the British royal family were in attendance at the Forum and one of the ladies -- Pincess Anne maybe? -- was smitten with ol' Floyd. I'd love to hear from any members who knew him.
