You may be right about Richer, but boy oh boy did he have an unstoppable shot for a couple of seasons there. It was beautiful to watch on the power play or any time we set up in the zone. He could man to point or hang out at the top of the circle and launch. Plus he had a flair for the unexpected.
Considering what a soft player he was for us, I was surprised to hear Don Cherry mention him many times as the key to the Devils first cup.
Underrated - Mike McPhee. Overrated - Stephane Richer.
Great choices, Beak! I have to agree on MacPhee. Rick Green, Bill Nyrop, and Brian Skrudland are others that come to mind. Richer is a good choice as well. I can't think of others I'd name.
