Are you sure that the Habs can not afford to look at unloading a keeper???
Tampa, Pittsburgh, Edmonton....heck even teams like Vancouver and Philadelphia...are (or should be) seriously looking at adding a quality guy between the pipes!
Rumors of T-Bay offering St.Louis for Lalime! Rumors of Kevin Lowe scouting Buffalo before Miller got hurt! Pittsburgh seems willing to pursue another avenue besides Fleury! Vancouver has watched Cloutier get his bell rung! And And-o is not convinced that Esche is capable of leading the Flyers much past the 2nd round!
Just think of the possible returns for a guy like Danis.....and just imagine the possible returns for Theo - WOW!
The Habs needs are obvious...maybe this is the best way to fill them without taking too much away!???? Interested to hear what the group thinks!!!
I would look at unloading a keeper but not at this moment. Patience is a virtue. There are still unknowns. Will Theo become consistent? Is Danis for real? He has only had one start. Teams will not give up much based on that. Bu th efact that we ahve "assets in the bank" is nice. BG needs to wait until "the interest rate" goes up. We are 9-3. No need to rush out and get someone.

Don't forget, with such a high demand for goalies, if the Habs unload one, and even if they get a great return, where are they if the remaining goalie goes down due to injury or even gets into a slump. I think the pressures on the offense is quite high, with Theo's GAA above 3 as it is. What if they have to put up 5 or 6 to win or even just to tie?

I'm a Habs fan, not a Theo fan. Get what I mean? If BG can make the Habs better, I'm all for it (except Ryder.) Afterall, that is why BG took Price in the draft, right? Best player available - that is, most value. Wow. And with all the goalies going Bure on us (ie injuries), then there are way more shoppers than Dec 24th at Zellers.
I'm all for hitting the jackpot by trading Theo, because we have so much depth at that position. But at the same time....I can't help but think of what happened when Roy left (not to say he's Roy, but still...)....
For some sick reason so many players break out after leaving Montreal. And suck when they get here....(Kovalev seems to be breaking the trend. I'm hoping Bonk does too. Signs are good so far.) I mean what was with Rucinsky the other night? He looked like everything he promised to be and failed to deliver when he played for us. Especially galling was watching him use his body so well.
It's arguable that Montreal has NEVER improved much through trades, but has mostly built their own Cup Winning squads with rare additions here and there. Wonder if that'll ever change. If anyone can change that, assuming we need to (our drafting has been great lately), it's Gainey.
