All the talk about avatars (a term I had never heard until Mario revamped the site) made me want to reconsider mine, so here it is. For those of you who may not recognize it, it is the Acadian flag. I am 100% Acadian, and very proud of it.
Vive l'Acadie!
Vive les Habitants!

hey Nil would you say that 100% of Acadians are hab fans? or are there strays? great avatar vive le Nil D
I would say that about 75% of Acadians in New Brunswick (from what I've seen in my travels) are Hab fans (Figaro - agree?), but not so in Nova Scotia. Growing up (in NS), I would say more of my school mates were Leaf fans than Hab fans. The difference today is that the Hab fans are still Hab fans, while many (most?) of the former Leaf fans switched to Boston when Bobby Orr came up. I have never in my life ever met a former Hab fan.

I just went to that site - well done, Zurath/Steven! I know many of the people you guys interviewed for the movie (one was once my roommate). How are sales?

Hah, we've just about broken even with everything. My friend Jeff (the head honcho of the whole thing) decided he wanted to have an official premiere, it ate almost all the funds.

Jean Beliveau. Nil can correct me on this one but I've heard that the Richards were of Acadian decent as well, is this true?
Couldn't tell you for sure, although Richard is a very common Acadian family name. The Habs also once had a Rey Comeau, which sounds Acadian. Rollie Melanson is from Shediac, NB, so he's clearly one.
Jean Beliveau was Acadian on his father's side, and considered himself Acadian. He told me this himself.

Traditionally, Acadians are very strongly Catholic, so the star represents the Virgin Mary.
According to the CBC web site:
"The gold star at the top left is the Stella Maris (Star of the Sea), there to seek the guidance and protection of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of the Acadians. This flag represents Acadians worldwide."
