Can someone tell this novice why everytime I watch a game on Direct TV (except hockey night in Canada) I must listen to the one sided commentators of the opposing team. Do the Canadiens have an english broadcast. These bozoz last night.  "Oh his foot was in the crease,"the goal should not have counted" Oh the Canadiens player just leveled the ranger what a non call. Atleast when you listen on the radio Murray Wilson and Rick Moffat are fair.

David- I agree. I think the problem is that these broadcatsers travel and stay in the same hotels etc. They get to know the players on a personal level and cannot differentiate fact from, reality. Just listen to Bob Cole and Harry Neale do a Laffs game.

I don't think this is something to complain about, every station will always be biased towards the teams where they are because the majority of the people watching the games are cheering for. RDS is the same for the Habs. i personally enjoy watching these biased games, it always gives me a good laugh at how little they know, wheather there complaining about a penelty or talking about Atlanta having the best two lines in the NHL, or how the Habs will be tired come the fourth period.

If that is the case why do Murray Wilson and Rick Moffat criticize the Habs along with the ther teams. They pull no punches. Last night Wilson criticezed Koivu and Theo for their mistakes. Maybe we are just blessed with good people.

Totally agree with you. Cole and Neale are blind when it comes to the Laffs. Another is Tom Larschied (sic) on CKNW : Home of the Canucks. The guy is so one sided that he can't strand up straight.

See i disagree. To me, a sportscaster's job is like a newspaper reporter's. To tell me the facts. When calling a hockey game it is the play by play guys job to give me an ACCURATE picture of what is taking place, or has taken place. Same as the color commentator. If they allow personal bias to cloud there observations, then their integirity comes into question.

The Canadiens are the only team that does NOT have an English TV broadcaster.  Sure TSN carries 13 games this season but they do it on a national network coverage.   And CBC, well that's only iof the Canadiens play another Canadian team on Saturday night. and if they play Toronto, they don;t get branded as Toronto's opposition if you know what I mean.


Two years ago, Sportsnet East carried a handful of Canadiens games.  And before that, the Canadiens had a deal with TSN to provide regional coverage.


But this season, nothing!

Thanks Mario that explains it. Well if you have started this sucessful venture 10 years and counting  then what about starting MHN   Marios Habs Network  why not???

Ha ha...the difference is that as Habs fans, Wilson and Moffat always criticize their team when they make mistakes.


You could say this is because we are a discerning, sophisticated audience. You could say it's because with our tradition we expect to win. You could also say we are a whiney bunch. At least you can't say we are similar to Leafs fans.

Give me the money backing and I'm sure i can make it a successful venture.


How can a team like carolina have a broadcaster and Montreal. whose English media market can be compared to that of either Calgary or Edmonton, does not.

Let me know how much you need. If Al Gore can pay 70 Mil for Newsworld international (and in fact ruin the stations broadcast line up) now called current Tv  we can sure find the monies. This is just as long I can be a partner  from south of the border  Ha
