The foot in the crease rule
Permalink Closed

Does anyone see this rule, or atleast a form of it possibly coming back in the future? With all the goaltender interference associated with the new rules it might help to protect the goalies. The only problem is having goals constantly reviewed slows the game down. Perhaps we can have the calls at the refs disgretion? Or a team can have only a certain amount of goals they can have reviewed per game? the rest is up to the ref? I'm not really sure how it would work, but the goalies need to be protected.

Good thought, I have seen more interference that is going uncalled this year. In fact there have been some goals that normally would have been called back.

Superhab, that's actually an amamzing idea. So many times goals should have been reviewed and weren't, like for example, when the ref disallowed Bonk's goal against The Islanders. The replay clearly showed it was a goal, and so I think it would be good to allow Julien the opportunity to have a review.

I think they should leave it alone. The foot in the the crease had it's share of problems. The Hull goal for one against Sabers. I think the refs need to keep control of this and call it when they see it.

As far as the crease rule, I was sick and tired of hearing those Rangers commentators complain about it yesterday. On Zednik's goal, Kovalev had a foot in the crease "Wasn't Kovalev in the crease though...look he's in the crease". They were pretty quiet though about Moore's first goal and Rucchin's about the foot in the crease. Or after the 1st period when they said their team was deserving of the 3 goal lead. I was sick of hearing these guys go on and I hope we pound them tomorrow.

Her is my annalogy. I go to roll call at work. they say Oh this week we are starting uniform inspections. So you go to roll call for a week or so and they check your uniform. All of a sudden there are guys walking in with a different outer garment on, different equipment on the gun belt.  The NHL wanted to crack down on foot in the creese. remember that a few yaers ago??? Not the opposing player can practicly set up a lawn chair in the blue ice and get a goal and nothing is called.
