Contrary to what most of you are saying about Souray being a victim of the new rules, if you look at the replay again you can clearly see that Souray tried to hit him by sticking out his hip. The Spezza play was even more spectacular in the sense that he anticipated the interference from Souray and bowed out of the hip check well knowing that it was coming.
Souray was plainly beaten in all respects. The two players standing behind Spezza as he did his dance around Theo are to blame because at that point in the game they should have done anything to stop him-a hook or even an on ice dive. But they didn't. They just watched him until it was too late. I say that as a habs fan.
I take nothing away from spezza. So far this year he has impressed me more than crosby has.
Albeit I enjoyed losing in that manner because it was a clean intelligent show of talent.
If the winning goal would have trickled in off a shot from the point, it would have been heart breaking and disappointing. Good thing is that Habs played a hell of a game and got a point at least.
I agree with you 100%. It is soooooo easy for us to sit and finger point here. Bottom line is that we got a point against the best team in the league. I say that Spezza made on helluva play. Give the kid credit..I am still looking at replays and trying to figure it out. Why do we insist on dwelling on the negatives and not taking the game for what it was? Highly entertaining and a good show by a Habs team that worked hard.,

I think the real message behind last nights game was get ready for something special. Maybe the Sens are a shoe-in for the cup (barring some injury problems). However, the fact that we are able to go toe to toe with (as barry33 so well put it) "the class of the league" shows that we should be able to hang in there with anyone. So expect amazing things from our Habs this season.
