Since most of us here seem to feel better when we finger point after a tough loss, allow me to join the fray. If I am to point a finger here it would certainly NOT be at Sheldon Souray guys. Let us point the finger at Zednick. His brutal pass in the Ottawa zone was what started the whole chain of events. And after that he was too slow to get back into the play..if you watch the replay he headed to the bench for a line change after giving the puck away. I am franky disappointed that my friend CJ had Zed on the ice in OT. I know the guy is coming back from an injury but to me lats night was the worst game he has played in a Habs uniform. I counted at LEAST 6 giveaways by him. He was slow on the puck. Tentative. Sometimes these guys have to stop looking at their huge egos and ADMIT to the coaching and medical staff that they are not 100%! It was obvious to anyone watching last night that Zednick was not near healthy. The medical staff can only detrmine so much (especially in a groin injury where you have pretty much take the player's word for it that he is ok to go).
Obviously Zed said he was ready to go and clearly he was not. I am totally disappointed with CJ for not recognizing this in about the first 3 shifts and sitting him. But I am more disappointed with Zednick not admitting he was not ready. A healthy Dagenais (pains me to say this) would have been better than what Zed gave us last night. Claude is a great coach, but sometimes he shows too much loyalty to his players and itbites him in the butt.
