The second game decided in a week by a shootout between the same teams.

It's no way to decide a competition, and it would be a shame if two teams that had been battling hard for 8th place down the final stretch had to decide who's going to the dance by this method.

Especially if the Habs and Leafs were those two teams.

Is it just me?

Personally I'm glad to say goodbye to ties.  I think the shootout is cool, especially if our team wins.


Ties really stink - look at the records for Montreal and Boston last year - same # of wins but Boston had way more ties.  I like the decisive factor of the shootout.  Otherwise, go to suden death not time limit (20 min periods).

Maybe fewer games and a playloff-like "play-till-someone-wins-format"
